St Michael's is an Anglican church.
We have our main service on Sunday when we hear from the Bible, sing hymns, hear a sermon from the vicar, say prayers and
share together in what we call Mass. Mass is a time when we remember what Jesus did for us and we do this by taking the bread
and wine.
St Michael's Church is more than
just Sunday services. We also do weddings, baptisms and funerals and other special services which include Remembrance Sunday,
Harvest Festival and special services at Christmas and Easter. Sunday School takes place every Sunday except the first
in each month when we hold a special all age mass that is suitable for everyone. We also hold regular Bible study classes
to learn more about God.
People from the church also visit
the sick and elderly people or anyone who needs help.
The church visits schools and holds
services at St Michael's for them and is involved with Scouts, Cubs and Beavers and the Brownies and Guides.
The congregation meets together
for social events like fireworks, lunches, fun evenings and outings together, our most recent being a trip to Cadbury World.
We also work together with other
churches and St Michael's part of a group of churches that includes two other Anglican churches (St Mary's Acocks
Green and St Cyprian's, Hay Mills) and collectively the group is called 'The Swan Group'
What is Church For
Christians believe that God has
done an amazing thing for them. We want to give thanks to God for this and we do that by worshipping Him. We believe this
is best done together, so we like to meet together and tell God how great he is.
